Partnership's History
 

2006

* Publication of the fourth annual data report on Marion County firearm injuries and deaths for 2005, as obtained from coroner, law enforcement, and hospital emergency room reports.

* Publication of “Characteristics of Suicide from 1998-2001 in a Metropolitan Area” in Death Studies, a national peer-reviewed journal.

* Collaborated with Wishard Hospital Emergency Physicians to present poster and paper presentations on the IPPVID’s data surveillance system to the American Association for the Surgery of Trauma.

* Completed a two-year Clarian Spiritual Values Grant, entitled “Clergy Education in Suicide and Firearm Injury Prevention”. Over 250 faith leaders representing 34 faith traditions participated in training efforts.

* Presented a summary of the clergy education project at the national annual meetings of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the American Public Health Association, and the American Association of Suicidology.

* Spearheaded a press conference with the Indianapolis Police Chief, Marion County Sheriff and Representative David Orentlicher for National ASK Day, a national media campaign that focuses on educating parents about safe gun storage in their homes and the homes where their children spend time.
